London, 28 July 2026 –
Aruba, one of Italy’s leading providers of cloud, data center and digital services, together with
Abinsula, the Italian company specializing in embedded software, IoT and automotive solutions, collaborate into
PiQASO project, a European project focused on developing and validating post-quantum cryptography solutions for real-world digital infrastructures, systems and services.
To begin the collaboration, Aruba is providing a test Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), the related technical documen-tation, and the expertise it has built in post-quantum cryptography and digital trust services.
PiQASO (Post-Quantum Cryptography As-a-Service for Common Transmission Systems and Infrastructures) is a project co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme. Running from January 2025 through to the end of 2027, it aims to move quantum-resistant cryptography out of the lab and into practical use by businesses.
The collaboration aims to develop a modular suite of post-quantum cryptographic services and tools, available through an as-a-service model and designed to slot into existing infrastructures without requiring specialized hard-ware. These solutions will be tested and demonstrated across multiple industrial sectors to assess how well they interoperate, perform and scale alongside current systems.
Aruba's collaboration is part of the use case being developed by Abinsula. Within PiQASO, Abinsula is building a proof-of-concept for
Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications, using Post-Quantum Cryptography-as-a-Service to secure the data exchanged between vehicles and infrastructure.
Aruba's contribution will extend this experimentation by complementing the automotive use case with a PKI and digital trust services ecosystem designed in accordance with the European eIDAS regulatory framework and the main international technical standards governing public key infrastructures. The test PKI provided by Aruba will be used to assess the compatibility of post-quantum technologies with processes, infrastructure and potential use cases for digital trust services. In return, the project's technical partners will evaluate Aruba's own solutions, feed-ing back insights to guide their development.
Participation in PiQASO is part of Aruba's broader research and development activities aimed at assessing the im-pact of quantum technologies on the security of digital services and supporting businesses and public sector or-ganizations in their transition toward next-generation cryptographic standards.
Rather than replacing today's technologies overnight, Aruba's objective is to develop architectures that can support multiple cryptographic algorithms over time, enabling “crypto agility”, the ability to update and reconfigure crypto-graphic components without redesigning entire systems and services.
